GIODO’s addresses to public and private entities
Executing its powers and having in mind the need of permanent improvement of data protection, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection addresses public and private entities. In these addresses, the Inspector General draws attention to the need for these entities to change the so far applied practice in order to adapt it to the binding provisions on personal data protection, and in case of public entities – to the need to undertake activities aimed at adapting the binding legal provisions to the principles set forth in the Act on Personal Data Protection. The Inspector General’s addresses may be of general character; they are also often a reaction to notifications by individuals of practices violating their privacy. Indicating the proper way of application of the provisions of the Act to the entities being subject thereto prevents violations of these provisions and contributes to raising the level of personal data protection in Poland.
