GIODO – Michał Serzycki
In the years 2006-2010 (3rd term of office), Michał Serzycki held the office of the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection. On July the 13th 2006 he took an oath before the Diet and pursuant to the Act on the Protection of Personal Data he started his four-year term of office as Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data on that day.
Michał Serzycki was born on July the 3rd 1971 in Warsaw. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński and from the College of Pedagogy. Moreover, he attended many courses preparing him to occupy managerial positions in public administration, including the courses on the competence of executive public officers, of the candidates to the Supervisory Board, of attorneys responsible for privatisation matters, as well as courses on the knowledge and abilities necessary to organise work properly. He completed post-graduate studies in public administration management, destined for the administrative managerial staff, at Leon Koźminski Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management in Warsaw.
Mr Serzycki started his professional career in the National Fund of Rehabilitation of Handicapped Persons (PFRON) where he occupied various managerial positions. In the meantime, he was acting in the supervisory authorities of commercial partnerships. From December 2002 till the moment of the election as Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data, he had been working as Deputy Mayor of the Wola district in Warsaw.
Since 15 February 2010 he has been the Vice-Chairman of the Art. 29 Working Party Data Protection – an independent EC advisory body for privacy and data protection.
